Twitter has become one of the fastest touch point media (ok, way of keeping in touch with your clients, friends and associates) ever invented and I’m sure there are many of you that wonder on earth it’s there for……….and yes we were those people too.
The bottom line is, even if you don’t really know what Twitter will really achieve in the business world but, the point is that Google and all the other search engines are taking real notice of it and it’s an amazing way building relevant contextual links to your website and to allow you to act as a central hub and position yourself as an expert in your field. Also, have a think about the following 2 ideas:
You can do searches on all the Tweets out there for the products or services you sell and then send direct Tweets to people to let them know this is something you do.
Did you hear about the specialist head injury lawyer that appeared on the BBC and got a six figure sum out of his appearance? Do you know how the BBC researchers got hold of him? Have a guess…. yes, the found him on Twitter!
The real problem with Twitter is that it’s very easy to set up, but once you’ve done that what do you do with it? Are you really going to find people manually to follow and hope they follow you back? Are you going to add timely, construction Tweets that add real value to people following you? Odds are that despite your best intentions you won’t. Are you going to make sure that you embed links in every Tweet you send out?
